HISTORY

Sheikh Ibrahim Hassan Batterjee started " I. H. BATTERJEE & SONS " in 1908, from AL BATTERJEE HOUSE, located in Jeddah.

Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim Batterjee, the founder of AL BATTERJEE GROUP, was born in Jeddah. After completing his scientific studies in the U.K., he returned to the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia to help manage the family business, established by his father in 1908. In 1956, he started AL BATTERJEE NATIONAL PHARMACEUTICAL STORES & PHARMACIES. The company became agents for many reputed international companies like Eli Lily, Bayer, Upjohn, Organon, Carter Wallace, SK & F, Beecham, Evian, Delande, Johnson & Johnson, Scholl, Squibb, Farmitalia, Sandoz, Lagerfield and Elizabeth Arden. Infact, this was the first Agency for international products, in the Kingdom.

Sheikh Mohammed Batterjee, after achieving a remarkable progress in the agency lines with his business acumen, laid the foundation for BATTERJEE TRADING, INDUSTRIAL AND MEDICAL COMPANY, in early 1975, under the name of AL BATTERJEE GROUP.

The GROUP backed by technical expertise and led by professionals of high calibre in each sphere of activity, has achieved an enviable position in the marketplace. While on one side the GROUP is serving the consumers through high quality products at affordable prices, on the other the GROUP is providing job opportunities to Saudi Nationals and contributing to the welfare and growth of the Nation's economy.

THE GUIDING FORCE

The guiding force for the tremendous success of AL BATTERJEE GROUP is Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim Hasan Batterjee, who is the founder of the GROUP.

Under his guidance, his dynamic and visionary sons and Directors of the GROUP, Sheikh Mazen Mohammed Batterjee, Sheikh Mahmoud Mohammed Batterjee and Sheikh Ibrahim Mohammed Batterjee are leading the GROUP to astronomical heights.

BATTERJEE HOLDING COMPANY

Due to its progressively rapid growth year after year, AL BATTERJEE GROUP has now evolved into a giant HOLDING COMPANY spread into various fields of activity.

Under the current HOLDING CO. there are 4 main Groups:

1. Batterjee Holding – BHC
This GROUP is involved in manufacturing and / or marketing diversified range of products such as Baby Cosmetics; Pharmaceuticals; Foodstuffs; Ice creams and Beverages; Garments & Leather Goods; Lubricant Oils; Furniture & Décor; Cement, Steel, Plastic Raw Material & Packaging Systems, Dental & Surgical Instruments and Ambulances; Logistics / Fleet Management; Oil and Gas Exploration.

2. BATTERJEE REAL ESTATE COMPANY
Responsible for managing all transactions for sale and purchase of Real Estate, developing projects in residential complexes and tourist holiday villages both within and outside the Kingdom.

3. BATTERJEE MEDICAL COMPANY
This Group runs a chain of own polyclinics and pharmacies. The polyclinics are equipped with most advanced international technology and modern technical equipments. Teams of highly qualified and experienced specialists / consultants offer treatment to the patients.
The pharmacies stock modern medicines which are sold to the patients under the supervision of qualified and experienced pharmacists.

4. BATTERJEE TRADING COMPANY
This Group is involved in high volume general trading activities.

He is heading the Batterjee Holding; and is also the Vice President of BATTERJEE HOLDING COMPANY. In addition to these two portfolios, Sheikh Mazen Mohammed Batterjee also holds the following high profile social portfolios:

• A permanent member of the SIBN (Saudi India Business Network), based in Jeddah and headed by Consul General Of India.
